Briefing on Budget, Renters Rights Act and Making Tax Digital

Landlords are invited to join a special briefing on the Renters Rights Act and Budget.

Brendan Kay, Managing Director of Oxfordshire lettings agency Parkers Properties, will be joined by Toby Morris, an experienced chartered accountant, for the webinar on Monday December 1.

The Witney-based professionals will dissect the announcements in this week’s Budget, with a particular spotlight on the 2% tax increase on rental income announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves in the Budget.

The pair will also provide advice on steps landlords should consider ahead of the implementation of the Renters Rights Act in May next year.

The key changes in the Act include:

  • Section 21 “no-fault” evictions abolished — all fixed-term tenancies will convert to rolling, periodic agreements.
  • Rent reviewsrestricted to once per year, following a clear and formal process.
  • National landlord register introduced, requiring proof of compliance for each property.
  • Higher minimum property standards

There will also be guidance on Making Tax Digital, the mandatory way for landlords to report their income and expenses to HMRC from April 6 next year.

Kay says: “This free webinar is intended to give landlords in Oxfordshire practical, straightforward advice on three hugely important areas, namely the Budget, Renters Rights Act and Making Tax Digital.

“We’ll explain what the changes announced in the Budget mean, advise on the various Government legislation coming down the tracks and update on key timelines.

“Most important of all, we will help landlords protect and grow their property portfolios.”
