Activists calling for immediate rent controls are protesting outside Parliament tomorrow, to coincide with the government’s Spring Statement.
A coalition called Homes4AllUK – which includes radical housing groups such as the Acorn tenants union – will lobby Parliament from 11am on Wednesday.
The coalition is demanding not only immediate rent controls but also a reversal of the government’s proposed £5 billion welfare reforms.
It’s issuing what it describes as “a call out to tenants, housing activists and trade unions” to campaign for an immediate council house building programme.
Supporting the protest on social media, Acorn says: “We’re facing the worst housing crisis in decades. It’s time to fix it. We’ll be here. Will you?”
